Four Wheeler Tech Editor Sean Holman explains how to upgrade your truck with the Jet Performance Programmer.

00:00 Here's Sean Holman from 4-Wheeler Magazine to explain.

00:07 The easiest thing about a performance programmer is that all you need to do to install more

00:10 horsepower is to plug it into the OBD2 port, which is right here under the dash.

00:16 And as it's connecting, what's it doing right now, Craig?

00:18 Right now it's connecting.

00:19 It's basically pulling the VIN number off, locking this module or programmer to the truck.

00:24 And you can see the VIN number show up here on the programmer.

00:29 Now it'll go through a series of screens and ask us questions.

00:33 We want yes for programming.

00:35 This programmer also reads trouble codes and can diagnose any problem that is stored in

00:41 the computer.

00:42 So we're going to go ahead with yes for programming.

00:44 It'll ask us if we want to modify engine tuning and definitely want to do that.

00:49 Now tell us about the three levels of tune on here.

00:52 On our jet programmer we have three stages.

00:54 We have a stage one, which you can tow your normal towing weight, which on this vehicle

00:57 is up to about 12,000 pounds unloaded.

01:00 Then you have stage two, which is up to about 6,000 pounds.

01:03 And then you have stage three, which is no towing, let's have fun.

01:06 So if we wanted to have fun, we'd want to go with the performance stage.

01:09 I say we go stage three.

01:11 All right.

01:12 And on the programmer it selected performance two, no tow, stage three.

01:15 So we'll go ahead and say yes.

01:17 And what's the approximate horsepower that comes or power that--

01:20 On stage three we're getting approximately 145 horsepower, 205 foot pounds of torque

01:24 at the wheels.

01:25 So a programmer like this gives you more power for your money than say intake or exhaust

01:29 or other ways to pop up your diesel.

01:32 Instant power.

01:33 And then it'll ask you if you want to modify choices.

01:35 We're going to go ahead and say no since we've selected the choices we want.

01:40 And it's going to go ahead and start connecting.

01:43 And first it'll save the stock program to the jet performance products performance programmer.

01:49 That way if you ever need to return it to stock to go to the dealer or any other reason,

01:54 it's right on this module.

01:56 And once it's done clearing the ECU of the stock program and saving it to this programmer,

02:00 it'll upload the new jet program which is the stage three full power.

02:06 Is that good for making big long black burnouts?

02:08 It's good for making black long burnouts which we'll see here in a few minutes.
