00:00 The ECTA basically is a land speed racing organization that was established by a couple
00:09 of Bonneville racers back in 1994.
00:11 They had gone to Bonneville and got rained out and thought, "You know, we need a place
00:15 to race on the East Coast where we can test and tune our vehicles."
00:18 When you run here, essentially you'll get one race like you would race at Bonneville.
00:22 So you can literally gain five or six years experience by racing here in one year versus
00:27 going to Bonneville, spending a week thrashing and killing yourself and not really getting
00:31 the opportunity.
00:32 Maxson itself has a lot of diversity.
00:35 We have motorcycles and cars, we have vintage cars and new cars, and old motorcycles, new
00:40 motorcycles.
00:41 They're literally anything that you've ever had an interest in running virtually has run
00:45 here at one time or another.
00:46 Obviously it's got to meet the basic safety regulations, but on the end of the day, if
00:51 you want to run the world's fastest Indian, you can do that here.
00:53 Since competitors are running pretty much against a record, they're not really racing
00:57 each other, so there's not any hyper-competitiveness traditionally between racers.
01:02 You'll find a much more friendly atmosphere here than you will, like, for the most part,
01:06 at a drag race because literally the people are here just to set a record.
01:11 I've been fortunate enough to race on all the venues in the United States and set a
01:14 record of over 200 miles an hour, so I'm in five, two clubs.
01:18 The 200 mile an hour record or the 200 mile an hour club at each venue is kind of a holy
01:23 grail for a lot of people, and John just did a magnificent job.
01:28 I mean, 225 so far in the middle of a Sunday going, "Wow, this thing's fast."
01:33 And oh, by the way, the last Viper went like 219, so you're not doing too bad for a hippie.
