Welcome to Moab!
Transcript
00:00 Moab, Utah is the epitome of the Old West, rugged and untamed.
00:07 And we'll see why after 39 years, Moab's Easter Jeep Safari is still considered the definitive
00:14 backcountry adventure.
00:17 Straight ahead in this three-part series from one of Utah's most scenic landscapes, we conquer
00:22 the biggest, steepest, most challenging trails Moab has to offer.
00:28 And we'll put Yamaha's rugged Kodiak 450 ATV to the test in Fisher Canyon, the ideal proving
00:34 grounds for all-terrain vehicles.
00:38 And along the way, we'll meet a Utah fossil sleuth who's made a roadside business of tracking
00:43 down dinosaurs.
00:46 This and much more, coming up next on 4-Wheeler TV.
00:55 Moab's extreme terrain is its draw, especially after a spring thaw, when the normally sandpaper-like
01:01 rock surface there gets wet, hence the name Slick Rock.
01:07 While 4-Wheeling has been a part of life in this area since the introduction of the Jeep
01:11 decades ago, the Easter Jeep Safari is the first and foremost event of its kind to attract
01:18 national and international attention.
01:20 Dating back to the 1960s, Jeep enthusiasts have arrived here at times 10,000 strong,
01:27 like Woodstock for the 4-Wheeling scene, except without rock bands and those funky Paisley
01:31 shirts.
01:32 Whatever you call it, to us, it's Nirvana, Mecca for the 4-Wheel Drive.
01:39 Easter Jeep Safari is overseen by the Red Rock 4-Wheelers of Utah and takes place in
01:44 the spring of each year.
01:45 It's open to anyone with a good attitude, a reliable 4-Wheel drive, and the desire to
01:51 go where the road ends.
01:53 Many have worked all year just to get here.
