00:00 It isn't much of a stretch to say that Saturn is all new. With the introduction of the quote
00:10 unquote "all new" Saturn Astra, the company brings a decidedly European flavor to the
00:15 North American market. That might be because the Astra is essentially a rebadged Opel.
00:21 Astra is a sharp looking car, and should be a big upgrade over the ill-fated Ion. The
00:25 car's European descent is evident in the Astra, through both its size and pronounced
00:29 shoulder lines. The Astra comes as a three-door with sport enthusiasts in mind, or as a five-door
00:34 targeting young families. The Astra is propelled by a 1.8 liter EcoTec four-cylinder engine
00:39 delivering 140 horsepower and 126 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes mated to a five-speed
00:45 manual transmission with an optional four-speed automatic available. The exterior styling
00:50 cues are reflected on the inside of the vehicle as well, offering a coordinated, modern feel.
00:55 Ahead of the steering wheel is a rounded cockpit binnacle that houses a large, three-dimensional
01:00 gauge cluster. The five-door offers a large two-panel sunroof, while the sportier three-door
01:04 offers specific seats with more aggressive bolsters and lumbar support.
01:09 The 2008 Saturn Astra may not be an original, but it definitely complements Saturn's new
01:14 European-influenced design scheme.
