00:07 This is the Morrigan three-wheeler.
00:10 It isn't a car in the traditional sense.
00:12 It doesn't have doors, a windshield, or even four wheels.
00:15 The government actually considers it a motorcycle,
00:18 but it isn't really that either.
00:20 It costs about $45,000,
00:22 and it's hand-built by Morrigan in Britain.
00:24 That company's been making three-wheeled cars
00:26 off and on for the past hundred years.

00:31 You have to admire the simplicity
00:39 in the design of the whole car.
00:41 It has a sort of classic quality that you can't place.
00:43 It could be the '30s, it could be the '40s.
00:45 But anyway, my favorite part is the engine.
00:48 This V-twin just sitting out in front of the bodywork,
00:50 ahead of the car,
00:51 its most prominent part about the front end.
00:53 And it's there because it's air-cooled,
00:55 and having an air-cooled engine outside
00:57 is the best way to cool it down, of course.
00:59 But it also means you get to admire the chrome,
01:01 you get to see the mechanical pieces
01:02 when you're driving the car.
01:03 That's just wonderful.
01:05 It's a very simple car.
01:07 Having one wheel in the back
01:08 means you don't need a differential.
01:10 So what you have is a five-speed from Miata,
01:12 sending its driveshaft into a bevel box,
01:14 which in turn operates a belt-driven swing arm.
01:17 That means the car is light, despite having a steel frame.
01:21 It weighs just 1,267 pounds.
01:23 Now, the car being so light means
01:25 you don't need power steering.
01:27 It's manual steering.
01:27 You don't have ABS.
01:29 It's all manual.
01:30 You don't have power windows.
01:30 You have none of that.
01:32 And it's the simplicity that really makes this thing
01:34 honest and fun to drive.
01:35 The skinny rear tire makes launching difficult,
01:42 as the Morgan will spin through second gear.
01:45 Zero to 60 arrives in 7 and 1/2 seconds.
01:49 And the quarter mile comes at 16.1 seconds
01:52 at 82.6 miles an hour.
01:55 With skinny tires and no ABS, a 60 to zero stop of 165 feet
02:00 shouldn't be too surprising.
02:01 What is surprising is how easy it was
02:09 to drive around the figure eight.
02:10 It's a bit of a workout without power steering or ABS.
02:19 While it's certainly not fast, the Morgan's limits
02:22 are easy to approach and fun to reach.
02:27 You see, the thing about the Morgan
02:39 is it makes you forget about reason.
02:41 It doesn't have any practicality.
02:44 There's no electronic comforts.
02:46 There's nothing that's going to make you feel like you're
02:48 in a car that's going to make you feel like you're
