00:00 The conflict in Sudan, now in its seventh month, is getting closer to South Sudan and

00:05 threatening to spill over.

00:07 Addressing the United Nations in September, one of the belligerents was well aware of

00:11 the risk.

00:12 "The danger of this war is now a threat to regional and international peace and security,

00:21 as those rebels have sought the support of outlaws and terrorist groups from different

00:26 countries in the region and the world."

00:31 Since April, fighting has raged in heavily populated areas between the forces of Army

00:35 Chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his former deputy Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who commands

00:41 the Rapid Support Forces paramilitary.

00:43 The struggle between the two has crippled essential services in Sudan and razed entire

00:47 neighborhoods of the capital and the western region of Darfur.

00:52 More than 10,000 have been killed, according to conservative estimates, and the UN says

00:56 more than six million people have been forced to flee, both within and outside Sudan.

01:04 We have here about 11 days without food, without water, even without basic needs, there is

01:12 nothing."

01:14 For weeks, the RSF has been advancing on army bases in Darfur, a region scarred by decades

01:19 of conflict and atrocities committed against civilians.

01:22 Meanwhile, both sides have positioned themselves as peacemakers in negotiations in Saudi Arabia.

01:27 In previous negotiations, every agreed truce was almost immediately violated by both sides.
