00:00 Thank you, Mr. President.
00:05 I use the right to reply in light of the statement made by the representative of the United States
00:11 once again.
00:13 With old and new pretext, the government of the U.S. is trying to, in vain, justify a
00:19 policy which is illegal and morally unsustainable, even when, in an overwhelming way, the General
00:26 Assembly has confirmed over more than three decades an unequivocal message that the international
00:32 community recognizes the urgency of putting an end to the economic and commercial embargo
00:38 against Cuba.
00:40 The USA is imploding the most serious siege and with the greatest impact in terms of the
00:47 coercive measures undertaken against Cuba.
00:51 What was announced in May 2022 with regard to visas, remittances and travel to Cuba does
00:57 not change the principle measures that enhance the blockade and which have caused a severe
01:02 worsening in the living conditions of the Cuban people since 2019 until today.
01:09 The speech of the United States is hypocritical and dishonest.
01:14 The criminal economic, commercial and financial embargo against the people of Cuba is a cruel
01:20 violation, which is massive and has been over a long time and cannot be justified in any
01:26 way, even with the lies and the colonies and the legends that the White House and the State
01:35 Department seeks to use to justify its measures.
01:39 For several thousands of children over 18 years, they have been injured or harmed by
01:47 measures by the US and there have been several hundred shootings in schools since 1970.
01:56 The systemic racism in that country, the police brutality, the repressive policy against migrants
02:04 and the repression of the reproduction rights and extrajudicial executions and the use of
02:10 torture are just some of the condemned practices committed in the United States and which are
02:17 a scandal to the whole world.
02:19 The United States complicity with the massive assassination of citizens in Gaza at the hand
02:25 of the IDF means that it is participating in a crime against humanity.
02:31 Mr. President, the US delegation cites inflated figures with regard to humanitarian aid to
02:39 our country and it talks about multimillion funds that the United Agency for International
02:46 Development is sending for subversion in Cuba and which are used for Cuban immigrants and
02:57 the beneficiaries.
03:00 This is all just making many obstacles to the delivery of support from NGOs.
03:06 It's totally false that the United States is providing medicine to Cuba.
03:10 There is irrefutable proof that the blockade prevented the official channels for sending
03:17 aid to the country, including from third countries in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
03:25 The restrictions for the export of medicines to Cuba are explicitly covered by laws and
03:32 this is an arm of aggression, a weapon of aggression against our country.
03:36 The US says that it advocates individual freedoms and supports the private sector in Cuba, but
03:41 it has not lifted restrictions which damage the interests of the Cuban businessmen.
03:49 If the US is really interested in the well-being of the human rights and the self-determination
03:54 of the Cuban people, they could lift the blockade.
03:57 They would work together in us, in cooperation internationally, rather than discrediting
04:02 us and remove us from the list of so-called state sponsors of terrorism.
04:11 Cuba should never have been on this list.
04:13 And we, several weeks ago, expressed our position.
04:18 This was expressed by our Cuban president and he said, quote, "Cuba will continue to
04:23 defend its democracy and its socialist model," which has over decades demonstrated what a
04:29 developing country can do, a small country and with small natural resources.
04:34 We will continue our transformative efforts to find a way out from the embargo in place
04:40 by US imperialism and means to achieve prosperity with justice, social justice that our people
04:49 deserve.
04:50 Thank you very much.
