00:00 Canadian singer Shoop, who was recently under fire for his alleged support for Khalistan,
00:09 found himself at the centre of a new controversy after he was seen on the stage holding up
00:14 a hoodie with an illustration of Indira Gandhi's assassination on the map of Punjab.
00:21 This event took place at a London concert on 29 October.
00:25 After receiving the flag, Shoop said that the hoodie was thrown at him from the audience
00:30 and he did not see what was there.
00:32 "No matter what I do, some people will find something to bring it against me," he
00:36 said, referring to the recent outrage against him in India, following which his India tour
00:41 was cancelled.
00:42 "A lot of clothes, jewellery and phones were thrown at me by the audience at my first
00:47 show in London.
00:48 I was there to perform, not to see what got thrown at me and what is on it," the singer
00:53 said.
00:54 Certain social media users have suggested that the contentious hoodie originated from
00:58 Akal clothing, which seemingly exploited Shoop's concert in London to disseminate an anti-India
01:04 message.
01:05 Bollywood actor, director and producer Ganga Ranaut criticised Shoop and said it was "cowardly"
01:10 to celebrate the killing of an old woman by those who she appointed as her saviours.
01:15 "When you are trusted to protect but you take advantage of the trust and faith and
01:20 use the same weapons to kill the ones we are supposed to protect, then it is a shameful
01:24 act of cowardice, not of bravery.
01:27 One must be ashamed of such a cowardly attack on an elderly lady who was disarmed and unaware.
01:32 A lady who was the chosen leader of a democracy.
01:35 Nothing to glorify here, Shubhamji," Ganga said in a post on X.
01:40 Amid the India-Canada diplomatic row following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's
01:43 allegation that India had a role in killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, an old post of the
01:48 singer surfaced.
01:49 In the post, Shoop shared a distorted map of India without Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab
01:54 and the north-eastern states.
01:55 "Pray for Punjab," the post said.
01:58 Shoop's India tour was cancelled after it uproared on social media over the singer's
02:01 old post.
