00:00 Traffic is expected to tighten in Metro Manila, especially as Christmas is just around the corner.
00:07 The MMDA is trying to implement different measures to avoid a situation of chaos, especially on the main roads like EDSA.
00:17 This weekend, many motorists were surprised to read in the newspapers a resolution of the Metro Manila Council or MMC,
00:26 which is leaving the window hours of the number coding scheme.
00:29 This means that the number coding will be effective from 7am to 7pm.
00:36 But MMDA clarified that even though MMC has approved it, it will not be implemented.
00:43 We should think in advance.
00:45 It's good that we are ready to implement it.
00:51 If the vehicles are not moving on the roads and we are just getting MMC resolution, it might be too late.
01:02 MMDA will study the traffic and the amount of traffic from November 6 to November 12 before making a decision.
01:10 For now, the 7 to 10 am and 5 to 8 pm number coding will be implemented on Metro Manila roads
01:19 until MMDA makes an official announcement.
01:23 As far as our agency can hold it, we will hold it.
01:29 But if it is necessary, especially for the coming weeks after the holiday, we expect heavy traffic as the Christmas season.
01:40 We will announce it in case it will be implemented.
01:48 Some motorists have different opinions on the plan.
01:51 For me, it should not be implemented.
01:53 For example, I'm a senior and I need to bring my household items.
01:59 I will go out at 10 to 5 o'clock.
02:05 I will go out at 10 to 5 o'clock.
02:06 When that time comes, I will not go out.
02:10 Sometimes, I just remember in the morning. It's hard.
02:14 Of course, you are also chasing the time.
02:16 You have nothing to do. It's just like that.
02:19 Traffic.
02:20 If I have a day, maybe if I'm the one who runs the office, I will just commute.
02:26 I will not bring a lot of vehicles.
02:28 Meanwhile, fines for illegal vehicles using EDSA bus lane are also planned to be increased.
02:34 From P1,000, it is possible to reach P30,000 and revocation of driver's license depends on the amount of traffic.
02:44 It has reached more than 4,300 violators as recorded last July.
02:50 We have noticed that there are some vehicles that pass by repeatedly.
02:56 They are willing to pay P1,000 every time because they can afford it.
03:04 It's limited to cars.
03:06 Cars that will be rich repeatedly.
03:10 The penalty for contractors who violate the police is also being increased, including for the violation of roads.
03:18 It's P20,000, P30,000, and P50,000 depending on the amount of violation.
03:24 George Cahiles, CNN Philippines.
