00:00 Well, this was the biggest operation that the Metropolitan Police Service has ever conducted
00:12 in terms of organised crime here in London. We've made over 900 arrests, we've convicted
00:18 426 individuals for total imprisonment of 3,722 years, that's an average of 8 and a
00:24 half years per conviction. These are significant criminals, these are people who have been
00:29 operating at the highest echelon of criminality here in London and we're obviously really,
00:34 really pleased to announce these results today.
00:36 Well, I think it's really important that Londoners know that this operation started in March
00:41 2020, it was the peak of Covid, officers and staff were working incredibly hard to bring
00:46 these people to justice from that point onwards. I think it's also incredibly important for
00:50 the communities of London to know that these were the kingpins, these were the people who
00:54 were operating and directing urban street gangs, dealing drugs, committing violence
00:59 on the streets of London. So we think it's made a significant impact and it's right that
01:03 we bring these people to justice. They were leading lavish lifestyles, they were sitting
01:07 there in their leafy enclaves, they didn't expect police to knock on their door and we
01:11 did and we brought them to justice, so I'm incredibly pleased about that.
