00:00 But the hip joint design allows it to rotate into mammalian if you want to walk faster or more efficiently in a linear direction.
00:08 Now let's watch a video here of some of the other things the Elevator Robot can do.
00:14 So this isn't only a revolutionary design in quadruped robotics, capable of both fraternally and mammalian walking modes.
00:29 It also has wheels that can be locked or rolled, allowing for dynamic capabilities in either mode.
00:36 You know David, just looking at this, I think what this vehicle can do in the application scene is pretty amazing.
00:44 Yeah, very much so John. So let me give you a couple of real world examples.
00:49 Imagine if all the vehicles that ended up stranded in a snow ditch, how many traveled from Detroit?
00:55 You've seen a car just 10 feet off the road. It didn't actually hit anything.
00:59 But the passengers could be stranded for 2-3 hours, in some rural areas even overnight.
01:05 If that vehicle could just stand up a couple feet and crawl itself out of the ditch, you'd be on your way.
01:11 Or think about all the people living with disabilities worldwide that don't have access to ADA ramps like we do in America.
01:19 They could hail an autonomous taxi, and it could get up, walk over their flowerbed, get right to their front door, level itself,
01:27 and they could roll their wheelchair right out their front door into the vehicle.
01:31 It could walk back to the road, and it's on its way.
01:34 So we validated these realistic driving and walking range capabilities by running it through some simulations on the famous Rubicon Trail.
01:44 There are 17 stages to the trail, and each requires different levels of leg articulation and scaled power.
01:50 So we tried to match the demand of each obstacle.
01:53 So we mixed that with the driving portions of the trail, and we packaged a battery that would allow Elevate to traverse the demanding 22 mile trail with battery power left over.
02:03 So by combining the power of robotics and Hyundai's latest EV technology, the Elevate has the ability to take people where no car has been before.
02:13 And perhaps redefine our perception of vehicular freedom and mobility.
02:18 I like to imagine that one day we'll send two missions to the moon or Mars, and when that day happens, the Elevate will be a fantastic way to send a whole new generation of explorers into science and discovering those places.
02:31 Because as yet, there aren't any paved roads waiting for them there, or any other planetary body.
02:36 It's been a pleasure talking about Elevate. Thank you very much.
