Beatboxers from around the UK and from overseas gather at a club in Tamworth, near Birmingham, to compete in an event organised by NUE Beatbox UK. "A lot of these people had never met" says NUE founder, Vic Brown, who explains that events like his are "bringing the beatbox community together again" after Covid lockdowns. Luke Chong, a beatboxer from Singapore, says the competition was "an eye-opening experience". Another beatboxer at the event, Alex Hackett, believes the mixture of musical genres on show in the UK beatboxing scene makes it "a really beautiful thing for people to witness."

00:44 Singaporean beatboxers never really have the opportunity to really go overseas
00:48 to visit other communities and other battles.
00:52 So to me this is an eye-opening experience. I got to meet a lot of people,
00:56 a lot of new faces, and I learnt a lot of techniques and skills.

01:16 and those people have progressed and now we're out of lockdown they've come
01:20 into the beatbox scene and started joining the community
01:24 and a lot of these people have never met these people in person so coming to these
01:28 events they can see these people in person who they've only seen online.
01:32 People are coming from different countries and it's bringing the

01:48 Obviously the UK culture around music because we invented garage, drum and bass
01:52 and grime and all this. You see all these music styles coming together in the UK
01:56 beatbox scene and I think it's really inspirational for anybody who comes
02:00 out of the country. I was judging the French beatbox championships
02:04 just last year and you notice when you go to another country the different styles
02:08 and I think the thing that people take from the UK style is that bass heavy
02:12 really incredible music and yet all these genres that we
02:16 created here and I think it's a really beautiful thing
02:20 for people to witness.
