Transcript
00:00 Good day, I am William Thio and this is PTV News Now.
00:17 United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres told world leaders the climate crisis had
00:23 opened the gates to hell during a summit where leading polluters China and the United States
00:28 were conspicuously absent.
00:31 Despite increasing extreme weather events and record-shattering global temperatures,
00:36 greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise and fossil fuels remain subsidized to the
00:41 tune of US$7 trillion annually.
00:45 Guterres had billed the Climate Ambition Summit as a "no-nonsense forum," making clear
00:50 that only leaders who had made concrete plans to achieve net-zero greenhouse emissions would
00:57 be invited.
00:58 After receiving more than 100 applications to take part, the UN released a list of 41
01:05 speakers, which did not include China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan or
01:11 India.
01:12 The Department of Transportation has directed the Office of Transportation Security to file
01:19 charges against the airport security personnel tagged in the case of missing cash of a foreigner
01:25 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, or NIA, Terminal 1 last September 8.
01:32 DOT, our Secretary Jaime Bautista said those found guilty will face the maximum penalty.
01:39 To recall, recorded CCTV footages show a female airport security personnel putting something
01:45 in her mouth, believed to be the missing $300 in cash.
01:50 The OTS is now coordinating with the PNP Aviation Security Group for the appropriate charges
01:56 against the suspects.
02:01 And in other news, an alligator missing its nose and upper jaw found its new home at a
02:05 Florida reptile park in Orlando.
02:08 The alligator was seen in a lake in nearby Sanford with no chance of surviving in the
02:14 wild because of its severe injury.
02:17 Gatorland Orlando, home to thousands of alligators and crocodiles, rescued the alligator and
02:23 will be monitored to make sure it is eating in a stress-free environment.
02:28 The alligator is believed to have lost its nose and upper jaw in a fight or after it
02:33 hit a boat propeller.
