University College London nabs top spot on The Times’ University of the year

UCL has been ranked the best university to go to, according to The Times and Sunday Times.   London School of Economics was also shortlisted for the award.

00:10 of London that has been named the Times and Sunday Times University of the Year in 2024,

00:17 having moved up six places nationally.

00:25 In the past year, the university has seen improved performance in many measures, including

00:29 UCAS entry, graduate prospects and honours degrees awarded. It came fifth overall for

00:34 research power in the latest Research Excellence Framework, with law, medicine and social sciences

00:41 among its highest scoring subject areas.

00:49 Helen Davis, the editor of the Times and the Sunday Times Good University Guide, said the

00:53 ranking is designed to champion the ambitious work of first-class universities and the aspirations

00:59 of any student of any age who wants to keep on learning.

01:06 The list is based on student satisfaction, teaching quality and the overall student experience.

01:12 Since 2018, the guide also includes social inclusion rankings for universities in England

01:17 and Wales, with a separate table for Scottish rankings.

01:33 This year, London School of Economics and Political Science was also shortlisted for

01:37 the top spot and Queen Mary London University was runner-up for University of the Year for
