00:00 Well, you know, with that, that pledge and obviously that is from some amazing partners
00:06 and people who have been great contributors to what 8-Line Play has been since our inception
00:13 to some community organizations that, you know, this is what they do daily.
00:19 They've been, you know, trying to activate within the community and we're trying to amplify
00:23 that so diverting all of our attention and focus through the school district.
00:28 I think there's some metrics that we want to kind of address in terms of, you know,
00:33 where kids are kind of struggling within the system in terms of, you know, one, the fact
00:38 that almost 78% of kids qualify for either free or low-cost meal plans.
00:45 So you realize how to buff up, you know, what's provided in terms of healthy, nutritious meals
00:54 is a bare necessity that every kid deserves.
00:57 So showing up in a meaningful way there and obviously empty stomachs are hard to show
01:02 in a classroom to be productive.
01:04 So you kind of want to start there.
01:05 Our literacy goals are huge because the third grade reading level and accomplishments there
01:12 are kind of metrics for high school completion.
01:15 And I think around 66% of third graders in the OUSD system are below grade level proficiency.
01:26 And so if we can, you know, show up in a meaningful way there, I think a big part of that is the
01:32 access to not just culturally relevant and age-appropriate books, like I used to mention
01:39 with the teachers, but also getting them access to tutors, which we know there's a lot of
01:43 data on the impact and the, you know, the way that kids respond if they have access
01:50 to that type of attention and, you know, and those resources.
01:55 I think lastly, within play, for us, there's a lot of data just on how many kids are getting
02:02 left behind in terms of access to spaces to go play, participation in middle school sports,
02:10 and that's on the boys and girls side, and just how many kids aren't living an active
02:16 lifestyle on a daily basis.
02:18 So trying to, again, encourage them to take that seriously, knowing how much play and
02:25 sports teaches you about yourself and character development and building a community.
02:30 And within the school district, that's a big part of, you know, elevating and amplifying
02:34 their entire school experience.
