00:00 NBC aired the 2017 Golden Globes on Sunday, and just like anything and
00:04 everything in Hollywood, it was not without its share of drama.
00:08 La La Land made Golden Globe history walking away with seven awards, and
00:12 Meryl Streep accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award from the Hollywood Foreign
00:16 Press Association for outstanding contributions to the world of
00:20 entertainment. And then she proceeded to use her acceptance speech to slam
00:23 President-elect Donald Trump for mocking a New York Times reporter back in 2015.
00:28 "This instinct to humiliate when it's modeled by someone in the public
00:33 platform, by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody's life because it
00:38 kind of gives permission for other people to do the same thing." The reaction
00:41 was mixed with many Hollywood celebrities either looking saddened,
00:45 ambivalent, or completely stunned. Denzel Washington's reaction is by far my
00:50 favorite. I keep thinking to myself, "Is he going, 'Denzel, go to your happy place.
00:54 Find your Zay.'" But the response to Streep's speech, not all positive, with Sean
00:59 Hannity heading to Twitter to say, "This is exactly why Hollywood is dying and
01:03 what a bunch of hypocrites. Sex, violence, and drivel rule." Turning the channel,
01:08 radio host Meghan McCain headed to Twitter to quickly back him up saying,
01:12 "This Meryl Streep speech is why Trump won. And if people in Hollywood don't
01:16 start recognizing why and how, you'll help him get re-elected." And then in true
01:21 Trump fashion, Donald Trump also jumped in on the Twitter action, "Meryl Streep is
01:25 one of the most overrated actresses in Hollywood and doesn't know me but
01:29 attacked last night at the Golden Globes." I'm just wondering if anybody
01:33 else sees this like huge irony and now everybody is now bullying one another. I
01:38 guess it just kind of goes to show that no matter how old you are or what job
01:41 you hold, people just never grow up. "I don't know what I said. I don't remember."
01:46 Do you think it was appropriate for Meryl Streep to use her platform to
01:50 make a political statement? For more trends like these, head to whatstrending.com.
