00:00 As part of a major NHS drive to prevent strokes and heart attacks, blood pressure checks will
00:05 now be available in local communities. Mobile sites have visited places such as barber shops,
00:10 supermarkets, mosques and dominoes clubs so that local teams can find potential health
00:16 problems for patients at locations that are most convenient.
00:20 In a moved part of the Primary Care Access Recovery Plan, new funding will see a further
00:25 2.5 million blood pressure checks in community pharmacies which are estimated to prevent
00:30 more than 1,350 cardiovascular events each year.
00:35 David Webb, Chief Pharmaceutical Officer, said "The enormous expansion of the number
00:39 of blood pressure clinics over the last year is thanks to the hard work of community pharmacies
00:44 which have more than doubled the number of blood pressure checks delivered, and the innovation
00:48 of local teams, going into the heart of communities with mobile sites."
