This summer's exodus in contrast with Raphinha and Kalvin's Leeds exits
Transcript
00:00 you were saying there about players, you know, thinking about, well, it's all right. I'm all right, Jack. I've got a way out
00:05 towards the end of last season. Always makes me think about Rafinha and his efforts in the last couple of games of his final season at Leeds,
00:12 knowing that if Leeds had gone down, he could have left very, very easily. You know, his Barcelona move would have been done at the drop of a hat.
00:22 But instead, he was there fighting to try and stave off relegation, knowing that it would make it harder for him to leave for his big move that summer.
00:31 That's one example that I think players maybe could have followed a bit more than they did. The other is the Calvin Phillips example.
00:41 Calvin Phillips could have taken the easy road to the Premier League in 2019 when Villa were making an offer of good money.
00:50 And Victor Orda basically said to Calvin, "What do you want to do?" You know, Calvin could have said, "I want to play in the Premier League and I want to go there now."
00:58 But he decided, "I want to get Leeds into the Premier League and then I'll be there with Leeds and then, you know, whatever happens, happens."
01:04 So he stayed. And yes, he has familial ties and he has a boyhood love for the club.
01:12 But there's something just a lot more admirable about taking the harder route and actually staying where you are and saying, "I'm going to take responsibility for getting Leeds to where they should be."
