Northern Ireland Secretary visits Hartlepool

Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris joined Hartlepool MP Jill Mortimer and Cllr Mike Young on a tour of Hartlepool's Northern Studios.

00:00 And it's recess and in recess it's great because we get ministers from coming up to see what we're doing in our communities.

00:06 And I'm really pleased today to have Chris Egan Harris, the Northern Ireland Minister,

00:10 coming to check up on all the exciting plans we've got for using our levelling up money for the production village.

00:15 So over to you Chris.

00:17 Yeah, I've been walked around by Mike, the council leader,

00:19 seen what £16.5 million is going to bring in pre and post production for, well, fantastic lot of the studios that are behind us,

00:27 where Netflix have already started producing stuff, but we've got nowhere for the pre and post production to take place locally.

00:33 And that's what the levelling up bid's for.

00:35 Absolutely, so it's been fantastic to have Chris here with us today.

00:38 Jill's made this happen and we're really, really excited.

00:41 We're looking forward to Netflix and other broadcasters, filmmakers coming to us to make these kind of productions.

00:48 As Chris has already said, it's all about giving them the package of service to make site development a real, amazing part of that.
