00:00 Welcome to the WrestleTalk News, I'm Pete Quinnell.
00:09 Our top story today is that a controversial member of the AEW roster has departed the
00:13 company.
00:14 Vickie Guerrero was brought into AEW in 2020 as Nyla Rose's manager.
00:18 However, following some serious controversy earlier this year, it had been agreed between
00:22 AEW and Vickie that her contract would not be renewed once it had expired, and that day
00:27 has now arrived as Vickie's contract has indeed expired and she is gone from AEW.
00:33 This comes from Fightful Select, who also note that Vickie had reportedly not been on
00:37 the road with AEW for months, since February when AEW asked her to stay home.
00:42 The controversy around her in question came earlier this year, when Vickie's youngest
00:46 daughter Sherrilyn accused her stepfather, Vickie's husband Chris Benson, of sexually
00:50 assaulting her during a cruise in 2020, and accused Vickie of siding with her husband
00:55 over her daughter, with claims that Vickie had told her that it was a mistake and that
00:59 not who he is.
01:01 Both her uncle Chava Guerrero and her older sister Shawl supported Sherrilyn on her claims,
01:06 while Vickie and Chris both vehemently denied the allegations.
01:10 Vickie also posted an angry response on Instagram claiming that Sherrilyn was a narcissist,
01:14 that Chris and Vickie had been financially supporting her, and that she wasn't grateful
01:17 for that, and that she hadn't spoken to Chris about the situation but she can post
01:21 about it on social media, which wasn't the best look for her.
01:25 She was subsequently removed from AEW's roster page.
01:28 But moving right along to WWE, there's been some big news regarding the Judgment Day,
01:33 and I'm sure you know what it is because you've clicked on this video, I'm of course
01:37 talking about JD McDonough.
01:39 What, were you expecting something else?
01:42 For those who have been paying attention, JD McDonough, after being called up to the
01:45 main roster, started appearing in segments with Finn Balor, hinting that there was some
01:49 sort of story coming where JD could be included in JD, that JD being Judgment Day.
01:55 However for JD fans out there, that JD was McDonough, you may be disappointed to learn
02:00 that his plans may be put on hold, as according to @WorkedWrestling on Twitter, JD's JD
02:06 plans have been halted for the time being.
02:08 The first JD was McDonough, the second JD was Judgment Day.
02:11 But with some very interesting dynamics playing out in Judgment Day right now, what with Priest
02:15 holding Money in the Bank, Rhea Ripley holding the Women's World Title, and Finn Balor
02:19 challenging for the Men's World Title at Summerslam, it's shaping up to be pretty
02:23 spicy indeed.
02:24 If only they had something for Dominik Mysterio.
02:27 I feel like he should hold some gold or something.
02:30 Nah, they'd never do that.
02:32 But regardless of Dominik's lack of gold in WWE right now, which he definitely doesn't
02:36 have, things are looking up for Judgment Day from a creative standpoint, as Worked Wrestling
02:40 also tweeted to say that "WWE see #JudgmentDay as the successor to the #Bloodline storyline
02:46 in terms of fan interest and longevity.
02:48 The #JudgmentDay segments frequently gain major interest in the quarter-hour ratings
02:52 and will continue to be a center point of shows moving forward."
02:55 Which means that the #Bloodline story is well and truly wrapping up soon, isn't it?
02:59 So Sojay's winning and Roman's going on a break, right?
03:03 Right?
03:04 Or...
03:05 Reigns wins and then he's just by himself for a while.
03:09 But onto some potentially sad news now, and there may be another injury in WWE.
03:14 This is just speculation of course as nothing has been reported yet, but following this
03:18 week's episode of Raw, Liv Morgan was photographed wearing a sling and supporting her arm.
03:24 Having just returned from an injury, this would be quite devastating if it were severe,
03:28 but this could just be precautionary.
03:30 Much like how Bayley's match at a house show recently that was called off with the
03:33 X symbol from the referee saw her at least leaving under her own power, which hopefully
03:37 means it was done as more of a precaution than anything else to prevent further injury.
03:42 Again all speculation, but worth noting.
03:44 Back to Summerslam now, and there may be some details about the show that have been revealed,
03:48 courtesy of Logan Paul and his podcast Impulsive.
03:51 While Logan's match for the show hasn't been confirmed as of yet, it's all but certainly
03:55 going to be against Ricochet, with the two set to have another encounter on this coming
03:59 week's Raw, most likely where the match will be made.
04:02 And if he does get that match, there's every chance it could open Summerslam this year,
04:06 as according to Logan himself, he has specifically requested to WWE that he go on first.
04:12 And before you think this is some sort of Brock Lesnar move, if I'm not on last, I'm
04:16 on first, this is so Logan can immediately leave, get on a private jet, fly from Detroit,
04:22 Michigan to Dallas, Texas so that he can walk to the ring with his brother Jake Paul, who'll
04:26 be fighting Nate Diaz on the same night.
04:29 But then that raises the question, if Logan does get his wish, and he does go on first,
04:34 where does that leave Brock Lesnar?
04:35 Because he won't be on last, and now he won't be on first, where else is there on
04:40 the card for him?
04:41 That doesn't compute.
04:43 Is Lesnar going to have a mid-card match, in the most literal sense of the word that
04:49 is?
04:50 I wonder where Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor will place on the card too, because if not
04:53 for Lesnar or Logan, I could see it being a really good option for the opener.
04:57 And then we'd see all those dynamics play out with Priest Money in the Bank and Finn
05:00 and all that stuff, and presumably Rhea would defend her belt elsewhere on the show.
05:04 It's just a shame there's nothing for Dominik Mysterio to do.
05:07 Ah well, I'm sure something will come along soon for him.
05:10 On the subject of Logan's Impulsive podcast, Seth Rollins was a guest on the show after
05:14 the two faced off at this year's WrestleMania, and while he praised Logan for his work ethic
05:18 and respect shown to the industry, he also said "stay away from my world title please",
05:22 to which Logan said he can't make any promises because he's just extended his contract
05:26 in WWE, presumably with another photoshopped image of a contract signing.
05:31 Seth also had another piece of info he shared on his Impulsive appearance, and that was
05:35 to do with his now iconic entrance music.
05:38 Seth shared that he debuted the new song in 2021 at WrestleMania 37, but wouldn't get
05:41 the full effect of the crowd chanting along until much later, when he realised that people
05:46 were singing along to it at a Raw show in Madison Square Garden in 2022.
05:50 But interestingly, what's actually being broadcast is the Vince McMahon version of
05:54 the song, and it could have been a little different according to Seth.
05:57 "Vince McMahon was actually, he was just hearing it for the first or second time, he
06:00 actually took a set of the woes out, he didn't get the woes.
06:05 He was like, 'Ah, that's not Seth Rollins, that's not Seth freakin' Rollins.'
06:09 I'm like, 'I'm telling you.'
06:10 And he's like, 'No, no, no, just trust me.'
06:13 I'm like, 'Alright, fine, you've already been doing this for 80 years or whatever.'
06:16 The version you hear now is still the Vince version, but there's enough of the woes
06:21 that it caught on."
06:22 Sticking with Summerslam as a topic here, there are now currently two official matches
06:26 for the show, that being Seth vs Finn and Cody vs Brock.
06:30 While many expected that when the match was made for Cody and Brock, there would also
06:33 be a stipulation attached to that announcement, that wasn't the case, and it's currently
06:38 lined up to be just another singles match.
06:40 However we may be getting a stip before long, as Works Wrestling on Twitter is reporting
06:45 that while there wasn't one announced before, there will be a stipulation for the Summerslam
06:49 Cody Rhodes vs Brock Lesnar match.
06:51 What that stipulation is, we don't know yet, but if it were me, I'd go dog collar,
06:56 because why not, it's Cody.
06:58 And we know Cody can do a good dog collar match, and if Lesnar cares, he could definitely
07:02 make it work.
07:03 I for one am optimistic they can make something great, whatever the stipulation is.
07:08 And speaking of optimism, that's WWE's outlook about the Women's Tag Team Championships
07:13 right now.
07:15 What a segue.
07:16 With Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville winning the Women's Tag Belt on Raw, according to
07:20 WrestleVotes there is a feeling of optimism around the belts now, with the hope that the
07:24 two can stabilise the tag titles with a substantial run as champions.
07:28 Which I thought is what we were getting with Ronda and Shayna, but here we are.
07:32 It would be sorely needed to calm these belts down a little and make them an actual prestigious
07:37 prize, which may take some doing, especially with all these tag teams WWE don't have.
07:42 Just take the example of someone like, I don't know, NXT North American Champion Wes Lee.
07:47 He's made that title mean so much by having a lengthy reign, frequent defences and great
07:52 matches.
07:53 He's made the best North American title reign of all of them, and whenever he drops
07:56 that belt, it's going to mean so much more to whoever he drops it to.
08:00 Anyway, it's now time for my NXT One Minute One Take, where I'll attempt to recount
08:04 everything that happened on last night's episode of NXT in one minute, and in one take.
08:08 Here we go.
08:09 Hope nothing major happened.
08:14 Start the timer.
08:15 Dominik Mysterio beat Wes Lee for the North American title.
08:18 That's the only thing you need to know about this show.
08:20 It's the best thing ever.
08:21 What a great decision.
08:22 I love it.
08:23 Now Finn's the only one without a prize in Judgment Day, and he's challenging for
08:26 the world title at SummerSlam, which could lead to some really cool dynamics.
08:29 Like Priest could maybe fake a cash-in on Seth, allow Balor to win the belt, but then
08:33 they could all celebrate with their prizes, but then there's that wary look in Finn's
08:38 eye, as he knows that Priest is right there with the briefcase.
08:40 There's so many possibilities for this, with Priest stealing the belt from Finn after he's
08:43 won it, or stealing it from Seth when Finn was about to win.
08:46 It's so good.
08:47 And Dominik holding the gold now could be the catalyst for Finn's descent into madness
08:50 and desire to win singles gold.
08:51 What a choice.
08:52 I love it.
08:53 It's so great.
08:54 And also some other things happened on NXT.
08:57 And that's my 1 minute 1 take.
08:58 Think I covered everything there.
09:00 But now why don't you check out yesterday's WrestleTalk News episode including Luke's
09:03 review of Raw.
09:04 Here's a clip.
09:05 "They essentially just went into the near-fall section and, to be honest, it popped the crowd.
09:09 The Oblivion was broken up, Morgan kicked out of the Unprettier, but the good guys could
09:13 not overcome Raquel's sore leg, and the Karens picked up the win and the titles with
09:19 another Unprettier and running knee."
09:21 This division, which let's not forget, was supposed to be reset after Ronda and Shayna
09:25 won the belt 7 weeks ago.
