Glasgow headlines 5 July: Teen hit by bus in city centre

A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a bus near Buchanan Bus Station.

His condition is unknown, while a 62-year-old man has been reported to the Prosecutor Fiscal in connection with a road traffic offence.

First Glasgow confirmed they are aiding Police with their investigation.

Next, Shelter Scotland has declared an emergency as new findings show over 130 homeless people have died in temporary accommodation since 2020.

Director of the charity said this news is a miserable indictment of Scotland’s completely broken housing system.

The figures were obtained by Labour from the SNP-led council, describing them as a ‘disgrace’.

And finally, data shows that electric car drivers in Glasgow have collectively been handed fines of up to £73,000 for over staying at council charging bays, since limits were introduced in April.

The authority has more than 300 charging points across the city, with vehicles allowed to remain at rapid chargers for one hour and standard chargers for two hours before being faced with a fee.
