A stray wolf famished
Saw a grazing flock -
A happy herd of sheep
That never bothered to keep
Watchful eyes to rock,
Away or turn back
For defence and, banished
The cunning, sudden enemy
'Browse and be a dummy '

The predator happily thought
It was a great prize
To hunt and feast
He had to struggle the least
Trying not to be caught;
All chose the same way
To circumvent or stay

Some lost hope and strength -
With fear, were half dead;
The vicious canine gripped
The second victim as blood dripped
From the first one and spread
Till life concluded at length
Uttered those that did not bleed:
Thank god we are lucky indeed..!\n\nVidya Pandarinath
