In Cuba, work is progressing to contain the large-scale forest fire that has been affecting the Pinares de Mayarí area in the east of the country since 18 February. Specialised forces, as well as government authorities and residents of Santiago de Cuba and Holguín, are working to control the blaze, which has damaged more than 4,000 hectares of forest and pastureland and around 15,000 metres of wood. teleSUR
