What factors contribute to the onset of cancer?

- A diet rich in fats and calories, as well as a high content of carbohydrates and food additives, negatively affects health, increasing the risk of cancer of various internal organs;
- The environment is considered to be an important factor in the occurrence of cancer. Environmental pollution has caused such substances to enter the human body: asbestos, aluminum, arsenic, benzene, benzpyrene, beryllium, cadmium, nickel, hematite, strontium-90, coal, chromium (VI), leather dust, lindane, radionuclides, wood dust , mineral oils, phosphorus-32, vinyl chloride. And to this list should be added the influence of ionizing and neutron radiation;
- Alcohol is on the list of susceptible carcinogens that can cause such disorders: cancer of the throat, oral cavity, liver and esophagus;
- Irradiation: the risks associated with this factor have increased in recent decades as a result of the development of nuclear energy and the use of nuclear weapons. Most often, radiation causes leukemia (8 years after exposure) and other cancers (thyroid, liver).
- Viruses: Oddly enough, some viruses are carcinogenic. Epstein-Barr virus causes African Burkitt's lymphoma, human papillomaviruses (papillomaviruses) are associated with cervical cancer (in women), hepatitis B virus contributes to liver cancer. The oncological side of HIV has been identified;
- Solar radiation, especially UVB rays, is associated with the occurrence of melanoma and carcinoma;
- Heredity: Even if cancer is not inherited, if there is a family member with cancer, the risk of cancer in another family member is 2-4 times higher than in other people;
- Hormone medications: Taking certain hormonal medications in women during pregnancy increased their daughter's risk of cancer after birth.
Of course, these are common factors that are associated with the occurrence of cancer, but there may be other possible causes.
