Erythrocytes (red blood cells) are very interesting cellular elements of the blood, the main function of which is to transport oxygen from the lungs to the cells and carbon dioxide from the cells to the lungs.

With their tiny size (7 microns), they are larger than atoms (several hundred pm) and viruses (several nm), but when compared with a chicken egg (several cm) and with our planet (12 thousand km), the red blood cells seem to be very tiny.
