ISLAMABAD: Accountability Court (AC) Islamabad on Thursday allowed the Punjab police to question former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who is serving seven-year imprisonment in Kot Lakhpat Jail, in the Model Town case, ARY News reported.

Accountability Judge Arshad Malik was hearing a plea moved by DSP Muhammad Iqbal seeking permission to question the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader in the case.

The police official stated before the court that Sharif had been nominated in the Model Town case and demanded that the probe team be allowed to investigate him inside the jail.

However, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor opposed the plea, stating the applicant should approach the relevant forum which happens to be the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for the purpose.
