Simon and Debbie Rutherford, both 48, opened their pub only four months after finding the closed down shop. It specialises in beer, gin, whisky and local craft beers local to the Kelso, Borders, area. The owners have warned that there will be no loud music played in the small former knitting shop to encourage conversation between customers. In January, Simon stepped up the planning for Rutherfords Micropub after discovering an old, closed down Knitting Shop in Kelso’s Market Square. One of the main rules set out by The Micropub Association is that the location should be a converted closed shop to bring life back to the streets.
