Benefit cheat who claimed £6000 caught playing football

A benefits cheat who claimed he could barely walk was secretly filmed playing football. Goalkeeper, Steven Ballard, 43, was recorded running, diving and saving shots despite claiming a higher rate of disability living allowance for a bad back. In total, Ballard illegally claimed £6,316. Money which was meant for people with virtually no walking ability. Ballard, from Paignton, Devon, was handed a 12-month community order with supervision requirement and 100 hours of unpaid work after he admitted making a false statement at Torbay Magistrates Court.
