Innofil3D manufacturer of FDM filaments has set the bar by tensile bar testing it’s standard materials ABS, PLA and PET according the ISO 527-1 test method.

First a 3D model – a tensile bar - which matches the measurements stated in this ISO standard was 3D printed and tested.
However we encountered a few shortcomings with the ISO 527-1 method regarding the comparability with 3D printing. This is because this method is designed for testing tensile bars obtained by injection moulding.

To compensate these differences we made some additions to the tests;

For example; the ISO 527-1 method does not account for the direction wherein the part is created.
This makes totally sense because it does not matter for injection moulding.

With introducing this method we want to create safeguards for the quality of our professional Innofil3D filament. For more information visit https://www.innofil3d.com/
