Brazil's right-wing opposition has launched a new attempt to impeach President Dilma Rousseff. It is the most serious effort yet. A petition filed with Congress charges, based on a federal audit court motion, that Rousseff fudged budget ledgers to hide the size of the deficit so as to increase spending. For impeachment hearings to proceed, Chamber of Deputies president Eduardo Cunha, himself implicated in the Petrobras corruption scandal, must accept the petition, which has failed to do in the past week. teleSUR
