Great Britain’s Conservative Party has taken a majority of seats in Parliament. Prime Minister David Cameron met with the Queen in Buckingham Palace on Friday morning and will remain at the helm of the British government for the next five years. Cameron says he will press ahead with plans for holding a referendum on leaving the European Union. He also promised to rule the UK as “one nation”. The Prime Minister had formerly promised to hold a referendum by 2017, but some say the date could be moved up. The European Union says it is willing to work with the new PM on reforms, but that the four freedoms in the treaty are non-negotiable. Meanwhile, the Scottish National Party came out extremely well in the election, taking 56 out of 59 seats in Parliament. SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon called the win historic in a vote against austerity. teleSUR
