Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro sounded a note of optimism following his meeting with US President Barack Obama on Saturday on the sidelines of the Summit of the Americas. Maduro said the meeting was frank, serious, and cordial. With the results of the Summit including the presentation to Obama of 10.5 million signatures on a petition demanding the rescinding of the White House's executive order declaring Venezuela a security threat to the United States, Maduro pointed to the opportunity for improved relations with Washington. teleSUR
