00:10That was one of the most fun baseball games I've ever played in my life.
00:14It was back and forth the entire way, went into extra innings, and then to come through at the end
00:18and win by one was remarkable.
00:22Fairchild, who has major league experience, also hit a grand slam in the second inning on Saturday's game against the
00:28Czech Republic.
00:29Leading Taiwan, playing as Chinese Taipei, to its first victory in the tournament after two disappointing losses.
00:39It's the first time the 29-year-old Taiwanese American is representing the country of his mother's birth.
00:45His mom, Mimi Fairchild, was born in Taichung and moved to the U.S. at age 12.
00:50She says she's happy her son's love for sport has brought her family back to where she came from.
00:55We never dreamed that Stuart would actually play for Team Taiwan, and when the opportunity came, it was like, oh
01:03my gosh, I want to go.
01:04I want to go back to Taiwan.
01:06It's been since 1975 when I left the country as a little girl, and this is such an honor, and
01:12I hope that we will go back together as a family.
01:16Although Fairchild's first visit was brief, with family ties and his passionate new supporters, he's sure to be welcomed back
01:23to Taiwan again soon.
01:25And there will be no shortage of fans hoping to see their new hero play in Taiwan's domestic league one
