Mexican authorities announced that the detention early Monday of leading drug kingpin Ramiro Perez, the new leader of the violent and powerful Los Zetas drug cartel. Perez, who controlled the drug trade in the northern Mexican border states of Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas, had replaced Omar Treviño, Los Zetas drug lord who was captured on March 4.
