In the midst of awards season and with Oscars right around the corner, host Ayesha Gilani takes viewers on a journey through the world of cinema and examines Pakistan’s footprint in that world. Hollywood has a reach that spans almost every corner of the globe. But the Pakistani cinema industry has been flying under the radar for some time. And with some of the world's best talent in Pakistan, it's no surprise that word on the street is that Pakistani cinema is making a comeback.
Head with Ayesha to the America Abroad Media (AAM) Awards for an evening celebrating the power of film, and meet industry giants such as director of the Bourne Series and Captain Phillips, Paul Greengrass, where Ayesha also met the real Captain Phillips. She also speaks with AAM’s president, Aaron Lobel, meets honoree Turki Aldakhil, a well-known Saudi journalist and TV show host, and Pakistan’s famous actor and director, Reema Khan, also an honoree. Highlighting the fresh talent in Pakistan, Ayesha runs into up and coming Pakistani actress, Urwa Hussain in New York City who is in town to premiere her Pakistani film at the South Asian Film Festival and who speaks of her faith in the comeback of Pakistani cinema.
