Host Ayesha Gilani volunteers at The Bowery Mission, a homeless shelter and rescue mission, outreach program, and restaurant for the homeless that has been in existence since 1897. While working the food service line and in the kitchen, Ayesha speaks with head chef Trevor Mathura, a success story of the program; President James Winans; and a formerly homeless man turned Director of Outreach for 27 years, James Macklin. The show also introduces viewers to the volunteers, participants, and their families through a touching journey through their lives.
