The future of the Palestinian National Unity Government has been put into question by one of its two components, Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip. Hamas leader Sami Abu Zuhri said that the time frame of the six-month unity government has expired and that negotiations between the two Palestinian factions should resume. Fateh, the other current in the National Unity Government and which controls the occupied West Bank and rival to Hamas, denied the two sides ever agreed to a six month limit.
