The Real USA - Death row inmate's final journey

"The last 40 miles" tells the story of a death row prisoner's final journey. Ray, a mentally disabled prisoner, who was taken to the death chamber three times and on each occasion was given a stay of execution. His story impressed filmmaker Alex Hannaford who made this documentary, which also exposes the racist nature of the US justice system, with its disproportionate share of African-Americans on death row and in which killing a white person draws a heavier sentence then if the victim were Black or Latino. Nick Harper reports from Huntsville, Texas. teleSUR
