In the history of Bengal, the period between 1500-1800 is often known as the "middle ages". While politically, the atmosphere of Bengal remained ripe with tension, it is also the time that saw the emergence of several cultural milestones. One of them was Vaishnava literature, inspired by Sri Chaitanya. This song by Sukanya is an ode to this old, yet eternal literary-musical form.
