Rabindrasangeet-Ami Nishi Dino Tomae By Tanjina

Penned and composed by Tagore at the age of 28, this song was first featured in "Raja O Rani"-one of his most famous plays. During its maiden stage show, Rabindranath himself appeared as the Raja, with wife Mrinalini Devi playing the part of another significant character. In a society where women were allowed liberty of speech, of movement only behind the "purdah", Mrinalini Devi's act raised eyebrows. Thakurbari, the tagore household, however, has always been known to be a path breaker and in days to come, it would set standards for women emancipation, Tagore himself being one of its prime exponents!
