Lola Beltran~Paloma Negra~Beautiful San Miguel de Allende, MX

Its Mexican Mondays again. Lola Beltran, one of Mexico's most beloved ranchera singers, sings Paloma Negra (Black Dove) which sets the mood for a few pictures of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico, haven for artists, writers, tourists (nine 5 star hotels) and 12000 foreign retirees.
The city is a UNESCO World Heritage site. There is not a parking meter, traffic light, or fast food restaurant in this city of 140,000 situated a comfortable 6,200 feet above sea level. As far as chain stores of any kind, you will only find one inconspicuous Starbucks. Many people are afraid to travel to Mexico because US newspapers have over-hyped the crime situation there. As a travel advisor has said, the most dangerous thing in San Miguel is accidentally sitting next to a retiree and having to listen to their medical history or going to 2 for 1 chicken Tuesdays and coming away with the wrong chicken parts. The state of Guanajuato, as a whole, is one of the world's safest areas.
