A young couple arrive at Salford Lads Club to make a film for TV. They've heard that the place is haunted, and they are willing to take the chance and spend the night in the cold, dark, spooky hall to try and capture anything they see on video. They are welcomed, but reluctantly by the Secretary of the Club and his two young and enthusiastic assistants. They show the couple around the building, then leave, promising to return in the morning, after filming has taken place. Bafflingly, when the caretakers open up the next day, the couple have vanished.
This is a short drama, a film made locally in Salford, taking an accepted truth: that Salford Lads Club is haunted, and that, if you're prepared to risk spending the night in such a spooky place, you will see some evidence. The twist, of course, is that ghost hunters often bring more with them than they actually find.
This video is aimed at anyone who enjoys a good scare. It was made in Salford in 2010 with a cast of volunteers, some of whom have had acting experience, and some who haven't. It was made possible by a number of grants given to community groups for just such projects, involving the community in making media.
At the end of the day, and when the sun goes down and the lights go out, don't worry: it's only entertainment.
Isn't it?
