Georgia's outgoing prime minister names close ally as successor

Georgia’s prime minister says he wants his close ally, the Interior Minister Irakly Garibashvili to succeed him.

Billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili will step down in the next few weeks.

Ivanishvili’s wish is likely to be granted as his party, the Georgian Dream, dominates parliament and the new president who must approve the nomination is also a member.
