I got this to replace a Silva Ranger that I bought last summer (it got a large bubble after a weekend of late season hunting). Its well built. The bezel rotates with the right amount of resistance. The declination adjustment is done on the top of the bezel without a toolthe center part with the luminous needle alignment earsit can be rotated. Its a little stiff not as easy to dial in as one of the screwdriver adjusted declinations, and not my favorite arrangement, but it works well enough for what it is. The clinometer needle works smoothly and repeatably. The compass needle settles down very quickly. The lanyard is deluxe. Theres a lot of glowing stuff on this compass. The entire bezel glows (everything that you see in the photo thats not white). Theres a luminous direction of travel arrow for whatever reason below the bezel (maybe its to remind you to walk forward instead of backward). Theres a strip of lume down the center of the magnifying glass and another tag of it at the top of the mirror. What looks like a romer isnt. Its an Lshaped map scale (in miles) for the 163360 and 124000s. I would guess that the Metric flavor has a working romer. On the top of the lid is a degree to % slope conversion table. On the side of the lid is a contour line angle measuring scale (150k and 125k in 20m contour interval). The lid has a cutout at the bottom for sighting which works well. Gripes The romer isnt a romer (see above) on this version It doesnt have rubber feet theyre just rough plastic bumps The reading mark needle is too long, and it obscures the outer bezel scale where you setread the bearing. I was able to pop it out and cut it back with a file. Numbers on the bezel are a little small Also, the instruction pamphlet only explains a few features in German. Maybe 40% of that is translated to English. So if you dont already now how to use a compass, youll need to find instruction elsewhere. http://shoespim.com/96126
