00:00After the gain of six, made in the air for the first time, complete, and Stephon Jiggs will take it.
00:12You talk to him, it feels like a Hallmark movie between he and his wife, and they met in sixth grade, and the whole thing.
00:20Draw here with Stevenson, for a gain of about four against the Chargers defense.
00:25And at one point has been interviewed by about everybody, with their head coaching vacancy.
00:31Third and a half does it here. Chargers bring four.
00:34May can't get away. Adolfo Owe, who came over in the trade from Baltimore, comes up in the sack.
00:42Championships at different levels, and here they are, heads ahead for the first time.
00:46As coaches.
00:48Justin Herbert, Charger offense, begins in the 20, begins in the air, and begins with Trey Harris.
00:54A first down gain of 14.
00:56Rookie Adam Ole Miss, they've got big people that want to play tonight.
00:59Scott Matlock, Tucker Fisk, they're two big fullback types are in, but they're blocking, because Herbert's looking to throw.
01:06Scrambling, on the run, will go to the marker, and on first down, get about nine as he goes out of bounds with his Chargers offense.
01:14Four man rush, protected Herbert, slinging it, Gadsden, can he get there?
01:24No, two yards shy, Gadsden is brought down.
01:27Headed the operation on the back end.
01:29Very seldom do you see them play anything but these two deep safeties.
01:32Second and 11 from his own end zone, May, deflecting.
01:37Derwin James almost had it, but a teammate comes up with it.
01:40It's Henley with the interception at the 10-yard line.
01:44It's the guy who does next to nothing on the rush.
01:47Here's Sierra Tartt.
01:48Really doesn't get off the line of scrimmage, but gets back into the throwing lane.
01:53He's getting double teamed.
01:54Found a way to get into the throwing lanes, and there it is.
01:57Nothing more dangerous than a ball tip straight up in the air, and the Chargers get the break they're looking for on the road
02:05to try and shift the pressure to Drake May and the Patriots.
02:10Glad McConkie is the motion man.
02:13Herbert going to take off.
02:17Get it down to the five.
02:18He got five yards as he was tripped up by Anthony Jennings.
02:22Always a factor on third down and in the red zone.
02:25Herbert looked his way, covered.
02:27Now takes off.
02:28Tries to get it himself.
02:28Cannot.
02:29Stopped around the two-yard line.
02:31Marcus Jones comes up to make the play.
02:37Going for it.
02:37Pat's bringing the heat.
02:39Herbert trying to escape.
02:40Enzo throw.
02:41No!
02:43Allen covered by Christian Gonzalez.
02:48Solid pressure coming here.
02:51Here it comes.
02:53He's looking left, covered.
02:54Comes back over the middle.
02:55Allen completes it to Ramudri.
02:56Stevenson, who's got a lot of room.
02:58There it goes.
02:59Stevenson.
03:00All the way to midfield.
03:0248 yards.
03:03Big.
03:04Big play for New England.
03:06Second and five.
03:09Play pass here.
03:11May.
03:12Everything's covered to the left.
03:13He's going to take off.
03:14And dive forward.
03:16And they'll mark it for the first down.
03:19And the big gain ensued.
03:21Stevenson right.
03:23The 29-yard line.
03:25Chris, it's such a big part.
03:27The X's and O's, the ability to throw the ball, run.
03:29Terry McCauley, our three-time Super Bowl referee, with us back at the studio.
03:36Confirms that from the 23.
03:37A little pressure here.
03:38And they get to May.
03:41Tuli Tui Pinotu.
03:45May protected.
03:46Throwing.
03:47Open is Chisholm.
03:48To the 11-yard line.
03:51First down.
03:52He's on the same side with the former Charger.
03:54Hunter Henry is in motion.
03:55Third and four.
03:57May.
03:58Nothing open at first.
03:59Keeps it alive.
04:00Directs.
04:01Chase.
04:02Flings.
04:03Out of the end zone.
04:10Almost locked.
04:11It was low.
04:12But Borigalas punches it through.
04:14Including a goal-to-goal stop.
04:16On the last drop.
04:18Omari and Henton, first run.
04:20Nothing.
04:21Loss of a yard.
04:22And one of those players we've already hit, Craig Woodson, on the other side of the lock.
04:26It's a deep catalog of plays in Greg Roman's offense.
04:30That one works.
04:31Firing to the far side.
04:32To Keenan Allen.
04:36And Herbert turns.
04:38Gives it by Dale.
04:39Nothing.
04:41So what is Harbaugh going to do now?
04:43Only four misses all year for Cameron Dicker.
04:46From 21 to tie the game.
04:48Operation clean.
04:52The kick is perfect.
04:54Well, great work in their communities and some international work as well for Hunter Henton.
04:59Deserving team winners.
05:00May begins.
05:02Just floats it out softly.
05:04Taken by Trevion Henderson right to the first down line.
05:07It's a Chargers defense that simply does not give up those kinds of plays where they haven't.
05:11The 42 play pass for May.
05:15Found the space.
05:16Just took off.
05:16First down.
05:17Drake May.
05:21Second and 10.
05:23May out quick.
05:23High throw is brought in by Keyshawn Booty.
05:26So question if Booty was going to go tonight with a hamstring injury.
05:30But third and five.
05:32Chargers bring in four.
05:34May throws.
05:35It's off the hands of Stevenson.
05:37An incomplete.
05:42Back to the air.
05:45Herbert throwing.
05:46A good job to keep his eyes up and complete it.
05:49Allen very close to the first down.
05:52Getting the little push.
05:53Or the big push, I should say.
05:54From Bradley Bozeman.
05:56As we get near the two-minute warning.
05:58Pressure coming off the edge.
05:59Throws right into that pressure.
06:01Vidal.
06:02Ellis couldn't bring him down.
06:03Until he got a few more yards.
06:05Carlton Davis is not in the lineup for the Patriots.
06:08Being looked at in the tent.
06:10Four-man rush.
06:12Without one of their starting corners.
06:14Hats are covering.
06:15Defensive pressure.
06:16Gets to Herbert.
06:18At the 23-yard line.
06:19He clearly established himself as a runner.
06:21Which he didn't do.
06:23That's forcible contact.
06:24It should have been a penalty for Ruffin the passer.
06:2615 yards.
06:26Here is May.
06:27Take it off on the run.
06:28First down in field.
06:29Go Raging Moore.
06:30There goes May.
06:32Inside the 20.
06:33To the 17-yard line.
06:36Big run by May.
06:38Second and 10.
06:40May.
06:40Looking for that end zone shot.
06:43Gets it out.
06:44To the sideline.
06:45Incomplete.
06:46And with six seconds left.
06:47Borigales and the field goal unit will come on.
06:50Andy Borigales.
06:5135.
06:53And he gives the Patriots a 6-3 lead.
06:57With two seconds until halftime.
06:59The headline of that drive.
07:01He had a move like that to block a field goal against Miami.
07:05May's first play in the second half.
07:07Is complete.
07:07Staying inbounds.
07:08On the sideline is Stevenson.
07:11Markham very close to that first down.
07:13Think they're going to move the chains at the 29-yard line.
07:17Second and 10.
07:18Derwin James was nosing around.
07:20May the other side.
07:21Hunter Henry goes to the ground and holds on to the ball.
07:24Despite the Tony Jefferson hit.
07:26First down across the 45-yard line.
07:29He takes the man in motion.
07:32Pressure comes from the secondary.
07:34May's got time.
07:35Slipping out Stevenson.
07:37First down Stevenson.
07:38Game of 17.
07:40As he stayed on his feet to the 33-yard line.
07:44Now he's got an extra offensive lineman there.
07:46One for it in third and one.
07:47Option.
07:48May.
07:48Beautiful fake.
07:50First down to the 18-yard line.
07:52Oh, show the whole resume, Drake May.
07:55Show the whole resume.
07:57Here we go.
08:00On second and 10.
08:02May look out from behind.
08:03Protects the ball.
08:04Now he loses it.
08:05And the charges are on it.
08:07All the way off the edge.
08:08Knocked it out.
08:09Deshaun Hand recovers.
08:12Off the edge.
08:13Beats the rookie, Campbell.
08:15Second try.
08:16Gets a hand on the ball.
08:17Hand recovers.
08:20Communicate and get to what Terry says is the right answer at that point.
08:24Second and 10.
08:24Herbert going right back to Johnson.
08:25That time he's blanketed.
08:27And the flag comes down on Carlton Davis.
08:31See the arm get hooked here right at the last second.
08:34A little grab and hold that down.
08:36And that's what was called.
08:38He brought in the right fit guys on this Patriots team.
08:42Part of their story is success this year.
08:45Second and 9.
08:47Vidal inside.
08:48Across midfield.
08:50Overload to Herbert's right.
08:54Patriots bring in 4.
08:57Herbert in trouble.
08:59Eludes.
08:59Barmore keeps it alive.
09:01Overshoots Vidal.
09:03Well, they had sprinkles.
09:04Let's add a little sprinkle out here.
09:05Let's go.
09:0615-yard line.
09:09May in trouble.
09:10Pierre Tartt.
09:11He had a great start to the season.
09:13We have to keep our eye on that left side of the offensive line.
09:17Third and 13.
09:18Stunton on him again.
09:19This time May protected.
09:21To Henry.
09:22Across the 30.
09:24Three field goals thus far this one.
09:28May.
09:29Has time.
09:30Shot downfield.
09:31Turns.
09:31Booty.
09:32Cut in front.
09:33Got it.
09:34Booty on the run.
09:35Inside the 30 to the 26-yard line.
09:3943 to Kayshaun Booty.
09:41Third and four for the Pats.
09:44Here comes the pressure.
09:45May's throw is double caught and dropped by Douglas.
09:49And this Chargers defense comes up with a stop.
09:53Force a field goal attempt.
09:55Good season.
09:55Couple of misses early on.
09:57But for the most part was pretty solid throughout his first year.
10:03Good from 39.
10:05And the Patriots extend the lead.
10:07Seven plays.
10:09Nine yards for this team in the first part of this third quarter.
10:12And a drop ball by Herbert.
10:14But Vidal saves the day with their best play on offense in this half.
10:19Well, I've heard of Fumble Rooski before.
10:22Maybe this is Spike Rooski.
10:25I don't know what that was.
10:26But it really worked.
10:27That's the best play we've seen out of the Chargers in some time now.
10:31So, every once in a while, Mike, in a playoff game, you just catch a break.
10:36Right?
10:36Just catch a break.
10:37And all of a sudden, it wakes you up.
10:40Mike Vrabel.
10:41He now has three catches.
10:43McConkie one.
10:45Down to 35.
10:47Herbert looking.
10:47They're covered again.
10:48Downfield's got to take off and run.
10:50And he gets to the line for a first down.
10:54Consistent diet of pressure from the Pats.
10:57Here they come again.
10:58Flag is down.
10:59Underneath.
11:00Off the hands of Allen.
11:02Check that flag.
11:03It's going to be illegal shift on the Chargers, I believe.
11:07Secured.
11:07To the correct call.
11:10Second and seven.
11:11May had a step up.
11:13Throws to Westover.
11:14Got the first down.
11:15Jet Westover.
11:22Deep drop May.
11:24Looking to step up.
11:25Climbs through the traffic.
11:26Goes towards the numbers.
11:28Throws and down by Henley.
11:30Just shy of the 40-yard line.
11:33Second and two for Drake May.
11:35And the Patriots trying to add to a six-point lead.
11:40Stephenson left.
11:41Back to a tackle.
11:42Into the second there.
11:43Stephenson to the 29.
11:46You see the Stephenson 128-yard total tonight.
11:51Play pass.
11:52Oh.
11:52Kicked up on Henley.
11:53Twists him.
11:54Man top.
11:55Henry's got it.
11:56To the end zone.
11:58Touchdown, New England.
12:00Against his old team in the playoffs.
12:03The other back is going to make a spectacular block.
12:07Then you're going to see him get just a piece of Deion Henley,
12:11who's a whirling dervish, coming through and almost got to May,
12:15who kept his eyes down the field and was able to see Henry
12:19and just lobbed the perfect throw over Derwin James' head.
12:24This is a play we did not see from Drake May early in the year.
12:29He was the kind of guy that would drop his head down but look just barely over the outreached arms.
12:36They have to go attack that position because he has been the one that's been stopping them all night.
12:41Herbert's trying to find some space.
12:43He's taking off.
12:44Trying to take it in his own hands.
12:46He made a great move.
12:47Herbert jump starts the drive.
12:49Knocked out of bounds at the 47-yard line.
12:52Now some opportunity to sit and read it and get the ball out.
12:56Pass bring five again.
12:58Herbert tries to get away.
13:00And he does again.
13:01Herbert does the splits as he tries to slide.
13:04The ability of the passing game to get anything going.
13:09They just haven't been able to do it.
13:11There it is again.
13:13Got away.
13:14Then gets popped.
13:15Lost the football.
13:17It's recovered by the Patriots.
13:19Herbert shaking up.
13:20Ellis the recovery.
13:21And this Patriot defense has just shut them down.
13:33Take care of it with the offense.
13:35Good initial pressure by Jamari Caldwell, the third-round rookie out of Oregon.
13:43Third and six.
13:45May pumps in trouble.
13:47He's hit the ball.
13:48Comes free.
13:49And the bounce is recovered by New England.
13:52Left guard, Jared Wilson on it.
13:55It was a bounce away for me.
13:58And Jared Wilson knew that his guy was the one that was going to be coming late.
14:02And there it goes.
14:03That's one of the better fumble recoveries.
14:05We've seen Justin Herbert do some amazing things.
14:08We just haven't seen it tonight.
14:10Going end zone.
14:13Vidal to the 18-yard line.
14:17Robert Spillane, the linebacker there.
14:20Four-man rush for Herbert.
14:22Underneath, jumps to the catch.
14:25Bring in five or more.
14:27And the Chargers haven't handled it at all.
14:31Third and two.
14:32Same deal.
14:37Got him again.
14:38Anthony Jennings.
14:41Charles Woods at the top is the sub for Gonzalez.
14:44And they all come back pedaling.
14:46Gadsden's got it.
14:47First down.
14:49Arande Gadsden.
14:50Now they're going to back off.
14:52Looks like more zone than a four-man rush.
14:54And Herbert underneath.
14:55Gadsden into Patriots territory at the 46-yard line.
14:58Would be huge for the Chargers.
15:01Trey Harris to the 35-yard line.
15:052.45 to go.
15:08They got nothing out of it.
15:10Johnston in motion.
15:12Fourth down.
15:13Herbert.
15:14Hit.
15:15To end it.
15:16Milton Williams.
15:18In his playoff career.
15:23Got the guts.
15:23He's got the talent.
15:25Things just continue not to break his way.
15:27And Drake May.
15:28Welcome to the winner's circle in the postseason.
15:31He's won his first playoff game here in New England.
15:35He's won his first playoff game here in New England.
