00:00Hi there.
00:01It's been a while.
00:02I'd like to give you an update on my animation efforts, especially on Fair Game.
00:06If you have dropped by my website recently, you might have noticed a slight change.
00:11Fair Game is gone and has been replaced with Meister Jäger.
00:17And the reason is this.
00:24And this.
00:35And also this.
00:43Not to forget this.
00:45And even this.
00:47And that's not even all of them.
00:48There's a series from the 90s and there's another one right now in production called
00:53Fair Game.
00:55So I thought Fair Game is the perfect name with a hunting theme and the meaning of it.
01:01Something being a viable target for mockery, criticism or even hunting.
01:07By the way, many people don't realize that the game in Fair Game is actually quarry, wild
01:12animals, prey.
01:14But in the end Fair Game as a title has been so overused it has become a trope.
01:21And if I'm going to use a trope I thought I'd rather make sure it's a German themed one.
01:26So given that the Empire in my story is somewhat modeled after the German Empire of 1871, of course
01:34with a steampunk vibe and really weird and the whole hunting thing has quite a German Alpine
01:41or let's say black foresty kind of vibe as well and the main character making wearing
01:46lederhosen a fashion statement, I thought well.
01:51So I had this little pun where I called a spaceship of the main character, a spaceship that looks
01:56like a Zeppelin because what else would it look like in a German Empire themed steampunk
02:01series, I called it Meister Jäger and of course initially it was just a punny nod towards a famous
02:11German brand of liquor that I like very much but also because the meaning of Meister Jäger
02:18is literally master of the hunt and I thought that fits quite well.
02:23And I thought now, why not call the whole series that?
02:28With a black letter FOT, yes, if I'm going German, I might as well go it all zu weh.
02:35And it's a dictionary word, so show me German liquor maker who shall not be named.
02:42Or maybe if you want to do a tie up in the future I might be very open to proposals.
02:46Now you know what happened to Fair Game, it's not gone, it has been reborn as a more German
02:54themed, no actually the content is the same, the scripts are the same, only the name has
02:58changed.
02:59It's a little bit like German Reiter became Twix, sonst ändert sich nix, or many other brands
03:05which just do a little bit of a rebranding here.
03:09Also this will put the word Meister Jäger very soon on number one on Google and all the
03:16other search engines.
03:17So again, it is very strategically wise to have a unique name.
03:22So the whole idea is this whole series is this steampunky, slightly German influenced series.
03:30And what better to get this across with a name that where you immediately associate, oh,
03:36hunting, alcohol is always good, you know, and some German thing.
03:41And then visually you see aliens and robots and you think, okay, it's got to be some kind
03:45of steampunk.
03:46What the hell?
03:47And perfectly that is what it is.
03:50And so I think it should just work fine.
03:52If you don't agree, please let me know that.
03:55I'd love to hear from you guys what you think of the name change and of the whole theme.
04:00And yeah, it is still not out there.
04:03So that means it's still a working title.
04:06So if somebody has an even better idea for a name, I'm open.
04:10The reason I haven't posted any progress on this series was it was just so fucking hot
04:15in Japan that I, the next step that I'm going to do with the series, I have to record all
04:22the, all the audio, all the narration.
04:26And that means hours and hours and a few days of work.
04:29And the place where I record that is usually in my bedroom.
04:34And well, that is the one room that is, gets really hot when it's warm outside and there
04:39is no air conditioning.
04:40And I have to close the windows because when I do the audio recording, I'll be screaming
04:43and doing weird voices and whatever.
04:46So I just basically die of a heat stroke in there in summer.
04:50And now finally that the weather is at a better level where below 30 degrees now in the, in the
04:55high twenties Celsius that is, of course.
05:00And finally, I think I can do the recording sessions in my bedroom.
05:04And once that is done, I'll start animating.
05:07And then I can post new little snippets and videos of how the series is coming along.
05:11So it's not dead.
05:12It's very well alive.
05:14And it's now back on track to get completed as soon as I can.
05:19Also I'd like to let you know that Shadywoods will soon be done with its rounds through the
05:25festivals.
05:26And then I am planning to publish it on YouTube, the full pilot episode, probably in November
05:34or December, not quite entirely sure when.
05:37Having it rewatched on many times over, I think the pacing and the story is actually a bit
05:41all over the place and I'm not so happy with it anyway.
05:44But at least you have something to watch while you're waiting for the first episode of Meister
05:49Jäger, which is planned to come out in January.
05:53And I will be hopefully publishing one episode a month.
05:57So you can go a full series in one year, a full season in one year.
06:02And let's just hope I can keep the pace and see you soon.
06:09Bye.
06:19Bye.
06:20Bye.
06:21Bye.
06:22Bye.
06:23Bye.
06:24Bye.
06:25Bye.
