Ridge and Caroline discuss the fact that Rick and Caroline are not having sex. Caroline says Rick says he is always too tired. Ridge tells her that may work for a couple of days but, they have been back together for awhile. Caroline blames Rick not being intimate with her on the fact he is still mad over the fact Ridge and she kissed. Ridge begins to be suspicious of Rick. Caroline says that she is committed to being better and committed to her marriage. Caroline returns home to an empty house. There is a knock at the door she thinks its Rick but, its Eric. Carter arrives and finds Ridge in the office. Carter shows Ridge the papers Rick had drawn up. Eric tells Caroline about the papers that Rick had drawn up - the papers would give Rick absolute power for a year. Eric asks if everything is good with Caroline and Rick. Rick interrupts before she can say anything. Rick shows up with champagne. Caroline tells Eric that Rick and she are good. Ridge wonders what Rick is up to. Rick and Maya talk while Caroline is in the shower about their future and how they do not like pretending. Maya tells Rick not to give into Caroline (sex) and Maya and Rick wish each other a Happy New Year before hanging up. Rick pretends to be asleep when Caroline walks out the bathroom in a towel. Caroline is saddened and tells a "sleeping Rick" Happy New Year.
