Final Countdown To The Baby – The Creation Of Us (S2:E9)

It’s the final countdown! Christen’s due date is less than a month away and she and Heather cannot wait to meet their little baby girl. In this episode of The Creation Of Us, the couple will go over their birthing plan and review the steps they need to follow once Christen starts going into labor.
“For me, I’m physically done and ready to be one with her,” Christen remarked, wearily. “I’m over being pregnant. If I’m going to give everything to this little lady, I need to feel a little better.”
Christen’s first thought was to follow a very natural and relaxed process, and do an at home water birth. However, after discussions with their Doula, they agreed to do the beginning labor at home and then do the hard labor and deliver the baby at the hospital. To keep the home labor part as calm as possible, Christen has begun testing out different ways to gently let Heather know that her water has broken.
Heather thinks she has figured out her role once Christen goes into labor. “It’s really just me controlling my own fears and my own anxiety,” she explained. “I need to during this entire process in order to keep her calm and not freak her out.” Heather was very sure that she wanted to watch the actual birth. Christen smiled appreciatively but was quick to add that it was good that their Doula would be there, just in case!
As part of their preparation for the big day, they will show us what is in their hospital bag and why each item is vital for a calm and easy birth.
