Marines Carry Child During Triathlon to Finish Line

A remarkable story of how marines helped a child finish a triathlon.

Inspiration is all around us.

Recently 11-year-old, Ben Baltz warmed many hearts after racing in the Sea Turtle Triathlon in Florida. Baltz uses a prosthetic leg, because a portion of his right leg was removed due to bone cancer.

He completed a 150 yard swim and a 4 mile bicycle journey, but he encountered some trouble on the last part, a one mile run. A screw on the prosthetic leg loosened and the artificial leg snapped in half.

Baltz had fallen to the ground, but a Marine, Private First Class Matthew Morgan came to the rescue, putting the boy on his back. A group of fellow marines ran with Morgan and Baltz straight to the finish line, leaving many onlookers teary eyed.

Recently, two brothers also made reports for their triathlon efforts. 9-year old Connor Long and his 6-year old brother, Cayden Long, who has cerebral palsy competed in the New England Kids Triathlon. They successfully completed the event and they have been taking part in numerous triathlons across the country under the name Team Long Brothers.
