My tribute to the fine people of Aurora,CO in the midst of a senseless time......
I learned a lot of things from you
things I never knew before
and there's the love you gave to me
you gave me that and so much more
You taught me how to be myself
and not somebody else
You taught me how to live my life
so I'd always live it well
You taught me to laugh
sometimes so hard that I could barely breathe
But there's one thing I never learned
one thing you couldn't teach
I never learned, to say "goodbye"
I never learned to say goodbye to you
Although I tried, I just couldn't hide
The sorrow that I'd feel without you
I never learned to say goodbye
Before you came I was so lonely
and so terribly afraid
That I'd never meet the person
who'd make me want to live again
You brought things to the surface
that were such a mystery
You taught me how to love myself
so that other's could love me
You taught me to cry
sometimes so hard that I could barely see
But I never learned to do without
the one who means the world to me
